April Hang, an EAP Ph.D student in the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies and the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, recently received an EAP professional development and travel grant to attend a conference in the Wisconsin Dells. She wished to share her experience with the EAP community:
I was fortunate to receive the EAP professional development and travel grants to attend the 2019 Better Buildings: Better Business conference. This experience was awesome! I learned a lot about the application side of energy such as smart grid, electric vehicle trends, or solar for homes in Wisconsin. During the session of smart grid, I met EAP alumna Jenny Brinker, who gave a nice talk about renewable energy management. After the talk, she shared her energy story with me and she was very happy to talk to our students in the future. I also went to the expo session and talked to many energy companies. These companies wanted to connect with our EAP program and hoped our students contact them. This is beneficial for students who want to find jobs or build potential networks. I highly recommend applying for travel grants and touching the real energy world!
