Gesangyangji’s doctoral research in the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies examines how climate data can be used to inform building energy design. Other researchers have only studied certain design metrics or limited themselves to specific buildings. Gesang’s research, however, covers the city of Madison and will expand to the buildings across the east coast before projecting how climate change will affect building design in the entire United States. Gesang also averages from 24 different models, blending global data with localized observations.
