Stephanie Blumenthal

Stephanie is an MPA student at the La Follette School with a background in state-level politics and environmental advocacy. In 2021, Stephanie graduated from UW–Madison with degrees in Political Science and Environmental Studies and set out to gain experience working in the state capitol. Stephanie worked as a legislative aide in the State Assembly where she focused on constituent relations and was able to work on conservation policy. To transition from government to environment-focused non-profit advocacy work, Stephanie moved to Chicago. There she pursued a role at the Illinois Environmental Council working on public transit reform and building decarbonization. This role shifted her focus and built her passion around equitable transition to clean energy and the ways energy impacts environmental justice communities. After a year in Chicago, Stephanie and her partner ventured back to Madison. She continues to work part-time on Wisconsin advocacy with non-profit Faith in Place while completing her MPA.
