Realta Fusion, a start-up company spun out of UW-Madison research, partnered with EAP students Titilope Dada, Harsh Darji, and Paul Vang to conduct a comprehensive supply chain analysis for critical components of magnetic confinement fusion reactors. Focusing on Neutral Beam Injection (NBI) systems and first wall and blanket technologies, the team’s final report maps current suppliers, identifies key technical and logistical bottlenecks, and offers strategic recommendations to industrialize and scale the fusion supply chain. The team evaluated plasma-facing materials, structural and functional blanket components, and high-voltage power supplies, highlighting the need for standardization, supplier diversification, and cross-sector collaboration. Their work provides Realta Fusion with a foundational roadmap to transition from research-scale systems to commercially viable fusion energy infrastructure.
